Twice the Fun!

Now that our little man is old enough to hunt Easter eggs, Easter is seriously twice the fun! LJ was only 9 months old last year on his 1st Easter, so he had to watch from Daddy's arms as all his cousins hunted for eggs. This year, he was right in the middle of the hunting, giggles and beautiful Easter weather.
On Saturday, the boys hunted eggs with 6 of their cousins in Stockdale. I had to post the pic first - the boys are looking at their eggs with such intensity. Or plotting to take over the world. We're not sure. Ghee looks on with pride. :)

My Grandma's pride and joy, otherwise known as eight little monkeys.
J is deep into the hunt...
...but finally stops long enough for a smile.
This was the first time Liam ever put eggs into a basket. I showed him how one time, then he took off!
Papa sneaks another egg his way...he is the baby of the cousins after all. ;)
I DID IT!!!! Can't believe hubby got this picture. Love it.

The three youngest cousins. They get their own hunting ground away from the "big kids."

Easter morning back at home - J was so happy to find the big bunny left him a stuffed Mario. Notice the pj's. He wants Aunt Nai to name her baby girl Peach. lol
L is also sportin' his new favorite obsession on his pj's. The Easter Bunny so graciously brought him a new DVD and book (that he's reading) with the bouncy little cartoon. Mommy's ready for a new obsession to start.
After church, we met our best buds for lunch (along with Papa & Ghee who came up to go to church and lunch with us). It was a YUMMY lunch, followed by these four friends hunting some more eggs.

J and A waste no time...
...while L takes his time. The big kids were so great with him, saving eggs for him to pick up. Love them all!

A parting shot sure to make you smile. She is so precious. And I totally get her. lol

Springtime in Stockdale

Spring is in bloom!!! The wildflowers are absolutely stunning this year. And I can't think of a better weekend than over Easter to spend time outside, soaking in the magnificent colors and beauty that only God can create. We spent one night in Stockdale, so the boys could hunt eggs at Grandma M's house on Saturday with their six cousins. Before we get to any egg hunting stories or pictures, I just HAD to post pictures from our wildflower walk. Take a look at these pictures...then I'll tell you where we took them. ;)
Notice the cattle in the background. What a perfect country scene!

Little man couldn't take his eyes off of the animals...but they quickly moved to a different shady spot after hearing his squeals!!!

What are these blue things???

J's favorite thing to do is to pick flowers for his Mom. I hope he never stops.

This little guys just wanted to tromp all over the place and NOT look at the camera.

Moving into a different patch found a variety of at least four wildflowers.

Even further along we found a sea of paintbrushes. Notice how tall they are. I don't think I've ever seen Indian Paintbrushes this large or tall! They were my favorites as a child.

How did he manage to find one white flower in a sea of red??? I love how you can't even see his knees or legs here. Oh, and very quickly, any guesses on where we found these amazing oceans of flowers? At the cemetery! The bluebonnet fields are right behind the city cemetery, and the paintbrush fields are actually in the cemetery, in a new section that was recently opened up. What makes it special, is that this is literally just to the left of where my Popi is buried, as well as some other family members. We all love that this beauty is literally steps away from our loved ones. :)

Not Quite Ready

O.k., so maybe I was ready, just not prepared. You'll laugh when you see what I'm talking about...kinda silly, but he's my baby so I choose to think it's just normal "don't want my baby to grow up" kinda feelings. But before I get into that, here are a couple of pictures from J's preschool egg hunt today. The weather could not have been more perfect.
The frog class lined up and ready to go!

One, two, three...they all had to count the eggs as they picked them up. Twelve eggs for each kiddo. Gotta be fair, right?

Baby bro helps J discover what treasure is in each egg. They both had a great time. This picture of the two boys ties into what I'm being silly/normal about. After the party, we went to get haircuts. Notice both of their hair in this picture, but especially little L's. It had gotten quite long and was starting to look a little shaggy. I took a deep breath and promised I would have at least a good 1-2 inches cut off...

...but mommy's heart wasn't quite ready for the result!!! It looks great, but is SOOOOOO short compared to what it was before. I know it will grow back (and fast I'm sure) but it's quite a change.

I'm just glad it still curls. I was very clear about not cutting the curls totally off. That would just make me cry. Doesn't he look older??? Boo. I love him getting older most of the time, but this just tugs at mommy's heart a little too much today. Probably b/c when he got up from his nap, it was all flat and straighter looking. I quickly squirted water on his head. ;)

My little man's haircut looks awesome. I wish I had taken a picture of the floor at the salon! The girls cutting his hair are always amazed at how thick his hair is when they start cutting. He had piles of hair around the chair. He can thank his mommy and Papa for that!!!
