Precious Little Ears

Our sweet little man had no idea what was going on when we yanked him out of bed around 6:30 am on Friday. He was in decent spirits during the car ride to the pediatric surgical center (partly b/c he was still mostly asleep!), and upon arrival, found this red wagon and was in heaven while Daddy gave him a ride around the first floor.

For the almost one and a half hour wait, we were able to entertain him with Tom & Jerry videos, wagon rides and a couple of new cars. That is, until the hunger monster reared his ugly head. For the last 20 minutes while we were in the pre-op area, he screamed his head off, demanding "oot nacks". It was all we could do to contain him. Thank goodness he responded well to the nurse - she was able to carry him back without too much of a fight. In just 10 minutes, Dr. C was back to let us know the procedure went as planned, ear tubes were in, and he'd be out as soon as he woke up.

Within another 20 minutes, my lovebug was in my arms. He was disoriented and weepy, but as soon as we put him in the car he calmed down...until he threw up. We called the recovery nurse, she told us what to watch for, and we continued home. He had a little more trouble with that nasty nausea at home, then passed out in my arms. About two hours later, he woke up and was ready to eat! Now that this is behind us, we are looking forward to NOT having to try out new antibiotics on this sensitive guy.

Our Little Valentines

The Kinder class at Sterling presented the MOST precious Valentine's Day program. The kids sang songs (quite a few, at least 6 or so) and in between, recited Bible verses having to do with love. It really did bring tears to my eyes - most of the mommy's eyes to be honest!

At the end, the kid's ran to their parents to give them a homemade Valentine. I was trying not to blubber. ;)

As you can see, Papa Bear was just as proud of his little cub. It was just so precious!
The next day, the Kinder class took their love day program to a local Assisted Living & Alzheimer's facility not far from our neighborhood. The sweet people that live there were taken with our kids. They sang along to familiar songs, clapped after every song and verse, and lit up when the children handed out homemade valentine cards to them. I think they made our day just as much as we made theirs.

Little brother's party was a lot more low-key, but fun! The mom of the other allergic boy in L's class brought dairy-free, egg-free heart shaped cookies so all could eat and decorate together. Our little man has no interest in icing (is he even mine?!?! lol) but was diggin' the cookie. And was pleased to keep telling me it was a "art".

 This is fun!

My lovebug is not one to smile or pose unless HE decides to, but I couldn't resist putting this on here. Check out Liam's face - the expression is hysterical and the shiner rocks. How did that one happen? He hit himself in the face with the gate on our stairs, while giving his mom attitude about not wanting to come downstairs. He is truly a klutz, just like me. If he can run into it, trip over it or fall off of it, he will. Poor guy.

Happy Birthday, My Love!

For the ?? year in a row, we celebrated JMcD's birthday at Freebird's. (We disagree - he says this is year 15, I say 13...so maybe we should meet in the middle at 14? lol) Either way, it IS a tradition and one we've grown to LOVE. Especially since we have included some of our dear friends along the way.

The youngest members of our party. We are so blessed with these amazing friends, and their precious children.

And I am blessed with the most loving husband. He adores our boys, and they adore him. Happy Birthday JMcD!!! We love you MORE! ;)

Wanted: My Lovebug BACK!

Awwww, isn't he cute? Getting his very own build a bear, that he picked out, and is hugging and loving...it just melts the heart, right?

Yes, he is cute. Yes, I love him more than I can even put into words. But we've had a rough week. I took him to BAB for a sussie after going in for our third antibiotic last week for an ear infection that just wouldn't go away. We knew this was a possibility b/c of our limited drug choices (he's allergic to the two most common antibiotics used for ear infections). It became clear that tubes are inevitable and we're headed to the ENT this Friday. Big brother had to have tubes too, so we know the drill. Of course, I am a bit more nervous about LJ and reactions to the drugs used during the procedure but we'll talk that through with the doc.

Back to my monster, uh, lovebug. He has just NOT been himself for over a week now. The day after starting the current antibiotic, he became much more irritable, and has thrown tantrums that I have NEVER experienced before in my life. I have actually thanked his older brother for never acting this way. A couple of times.

I am thinking it's a combination of him not feeling well, the crazy antibiotic he is on right now, and of course, his age. He is reacting badly to things that have never bothered him before. Like "the haircut"...oy. He has never cried, never even hesitated at a haircut before. On Friday, he screamed, cried, kicked, hit, and all but spun around in my arms. He either bit inside his lip or poked his mouth with the sucker stick and ended up bleeding in his mouth, had a scratch on his face and hit at the scissors with his hand. With one hair stylist cutting, me and TWO other stylists holding him all we managed was a snip around the ears and base of his neck. Enough to get it off the collar. In hindsight, we should have just not even tried, but she snipped one side over his ear before it got BAD, so we had to even it out, right? I was literally in tears when we got in the car. Not our best day ever.

THIS sweet creature did that?

Since Friday, and with a few more tantrums thrown in, I have been watching LJ closely. He is much more clingy with me right now. And he really is having mood swings, although yesterday was a little better. So I've given him more hugs, kisses and love than ever before. And I'm praying it's the medicine.

Snow Excited!

SNOW!!!! The boys were super excited to see the white stuff on the ground. After bundling up, we braved the cold temps and played for a good 20-30 minutes outside. That is HUGE, as Dad was at work so it was up to Mom to stay outside and play with them...and I really, really do not enjoy being outside in less than 20 degree weather! The best part? Heading inside for some hot chocolate and warming our piggies by the fire!!!
