The first day was super exciting, and surprisingly, a lot less emotional than I anticipated. Our big boy was all smiles and had no anxiety about his first day. He has been looking forward to it and talking about it all summer long. I think for both of us, knowing that he would only be gone two full days out of the week has made it a million times easier to adjust to. Plus, with a class size of only 10 students, it was certainly not overwhelming in that regard. Not to mention, he has a super sweet, gentle-yet-firm, Kinder teacher.
The Meet the Teacher night was held the Friday night before school started. She is incredibly kind and has been teaching kinder at private, Christian schools for over 15 years!
First day of school! J was cool and calm, while his baby bro ran crazy around the house, excited to be going somewhere so EARLY! (We have to leave our house by 7:40 a.m. folks...this is early for me after 4 years of working at home!)
In front of the school's front doors, waiting for the first day to begin!
Walking down the hallway of the brand new school building. I love all the reflectors lighting up on the backpacks.
The school boy checking out his new room, and looking for his name plate.
Proud mama with her baby...sniff, sniff.
Dad with a silly, excited student!
What do we do now?
Bye mom & dad! See you after school!
Side note: He has one little girl and two boys at his table, then there are three students at both of the tables behind him. Six boys, four girls total. The other Kinder class has 10 students as well. They occasionally have class time together and we'll schedule one big field trip a month for both classes.
Stayed tuned for more of our Sterling adventures - both in the classroom at school AND in the classroom at home. :)
